Walter Adrián Luján Samuel is a retired Argentine professional footballer who was born on March 23, 1978, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is considered one of the best Argentine defenders of his generation.
Samuel began his professional career at Newell's Old Boys in Argentina before moving to Europe to play for Serie A clubs AS Roma, Inter Milan, and AC Milan. He also had a brief stint at Real Madrid in La Liga.
During his time at Inter Milan, Samuel won five Serie A titles and the UEFA Champions League in the 2009-2010 season. He was known for his impeccable positioning, strong tackling, and leadership on the field.
Samuel also represented the Argentina national team, earning over 50 caps and participating in three FIFA World Cups. He was known for his no-nonsense defending style and ability to read the game effectively.
In 2014, Samuel announced his retirement from professional football after a successful career that spanned over two decades. He currently works as a coach at various football clubs.
